The Mothers at Risk Event Team partnering with two wonderful hosts

By Pauline Camacho Fielding

The Mothers at Risk Event Team has been thrilled to be partnering with two wonderful hosts – Carole and Tatiana, who have been willing to regularly house MAR fundraising events in their beautiful homes. The response from our faithful public has been overwhelming and we started the new Concert Season in the fall of 2019 under the motto “MAR on the Road”.

In December 2019, Malin Schell sang and played for us on the guitar Brazilian songs and world music. She is an original composer inspired by nature and her life amongst indigenous people of the Brazilian jungle. Her crystal clear voice and positive aura moved the audience deeply.

In January 2020, Maria Martinova, introduced her new Programme, entitled Tales from a Forgotten City. She captivated the public, interpreting Ravel and Debussy on the piano in her truly unique fashion.

In early February 2020 we had a “Jazz for MAR” evening with Elisabetta Maulo, voice, and Piergiorgio Pirro, piano. The public was simply smitten by this incredible performance. Their music could be described as a sort of contemporary chamber jazz influenced by early jazz music. One of these evenings one doesn’t want to end.

And finally in mid-February 2020, Pauline Sabatier, mezzo Soprano (sought-after in the fields of opera, recital with orchestra and oratorio) introduced us to her Ensemble “Les Vanités” and the project to perform the American opera Transformations by Conrad Susa 1935-2013. In theme with St Valentine’s, there followed a programme dedicated to the different forms of LOVE, with Emmanuel Normand – accomplished pianist, composer, accompanist, vocal leader and teacher.

MAR on the Road seemed unstoppable and one marvellous event followed the other,… till Covid 19 put the music on hold. We promise our public and the generous wonderful musicians who perform for us to continue as soon as possible and safe.
