FEATURING MUSICIANS MARIA MARTINOVA (PIANO) AND CYRIL GARAC (VIOLIN) ‘LA FOLIE SLAVE’
Saturday, April 28, 2018 with doors opening at 7.30 pm and concert starts at 8 pm
Venue: “Villa Maintenon” Avenue Montjoie 98, 1180 Uccle
Please join us for a private concert featuring musicians Maria Martinova (piano) and Cyril Garac (violin) ‘La Folie Slave’
After the concert “Paris-Buenos Aires, a love story”, the Duo Martinova-Garac returns to Villa Maintenon with their new programme “La Folie Slave” inviting you on a journey through the contradictory aspects of the Slavic soul – from the greatest tenderness and sweetness, to the greatest exaltation and agitation.
The programme is built around Prokofiev’s luminous and contrasted Second Sonata for Violin and Piano, his 5 melodies op.35bis and six of the 24 preludes of Shostakovich, initially written for the piano but played here in their version for violin and piano. They represent very clearly individualised characters and a sarcastic response of the young Shostakovich to the strict formalism of the then actual political regime.
The rest of the programme will confront you with Janáček’s staggering Sonata for violin and piano and allow you to discover works – most intimate and flamboyant – of some of the most prominent Bulgarian composer.
You are cordially invited to a cocktail following the musical event. All proceeds will benefit Mothers at Risk, an independent non-profit organisation committed to promoting woman-centred respectful maternal health care and to saving the lives of vulnerable mothers and babies who live in urban poverty.
The minimal contribution per seat is €30, however any donation above this is most welcome. Please note that the minimum contribution fee of €30 for the concert does not qualify for a tax-free exemption. If you wish to donate larger amounts for which you can claim tax exemption, please contact [email protected] BEFORE transferring your donation to receive information about this procedure.
