Urbanization, inequality and discrimination are creating unique health challenges for mothers and babies living in poverty. In urban areas, slums are home to many of the world’s poor forcing families to live in overcrowded inadequate housing with poor sanitation and a lack of access to basic services. By supporting the work of local partners like NGOs, small community and faith-based groups, and partnering with private-sector innovators we are improving access to quality maternal health services and ensuring respectful care.
